Text Theatricality (FWO Research Project 2012-2015)

The UGent Literature Department (German section) in conjunction with Theatre studies, SPAM and CLIC (VUB) advertises a

fully funded PhD position (3 years +1 year)

within the collaborative research project "Text Theatricality. An integrated approach through narratology and performance studies".

Starting date: 1.10.2012 

This project aims to undertake an interdisciplinary approach to the role of text in current performance practices, with a specific focus on adaptations of narrative texts from the German-speaking context to the stage. 

In conjunction with this research project, we are looking for a PhD-student to write a doctoral dissertation on the project's topic over a period of four years. The precise subject of the dissertation will be fixed at the beginning of the appointment in consultation with the directors of the project. The PhD-student will also follow a doctoral training programme (see: http://www.ugent.be/doctoralschools/en#opportunities-for-foreign-phd) and provide occasional teaching and administrative assistance to the Department.

The candidate will be hired as a scientific staff member. This position guarantees a monthly net income comparable with the net income of a regular university assistant.
